Start with Google Analytics
We make no assumptions whatsoever as to where you currently are with your business. The only two things we will assume are that you want to grow your business, and that wherever you are in this journey, a good Google Analytics setup is the first step to help you identify and set the right priorities (Disclosure – author works at Google).
We will keep this section as light as possible, so we waste as little of your time as possible. There are ten steps to address the general hygiene of the data you are looking at in Google Analytics, and the tenth will explain how you can reap some real easy to implement benefits from your newly improved Google Analytics setup:
- Create a Measurement Plan
- Google Analytics Demo Account
- Upgrade to Universal Analytics
- Check tagging on pages
- Account structure
- Applying filters
- Connect search
- Measure success
- Custom dimensions
- Create audience lists
It will not take a lot time to go through them, but if you follow the steps in this order, you end up with a very decent Google Analytics setup, and you can start using it to grow your business.
If you have never registered, or you are not logged in, I would advise you to do so, as most of the steps have some additional content for visitors that are logged in.
